Mickey Mouse might be getting a new full-length feature film and a makeover soon, according to Disney veteran.
In an interview with Bleeding Cool, Disney’s veteran animator Burnett Mattinson revealed that he was in the process of working out a feature film bid to launch Mickey and the gang. ‘I am working on just an idea of my own which is basically a Mickey, Donald, Goofy feature film idea. We have to present it first to the bosses to get the green light.’
Mattinson also said Disney maybe looking at reworking the Mouse’s overall appeal, personality and character. The group will be looking at everything from the way Mickey walks and talks, to his colorful mouse house at Disney World and the way he appears on the Disney Channel and interacts on the Web.
While most are extremely excited about the possibility of Mickey and the gang getting their own feature film, the possibility of changes to his character seems to get mixed reactions. While self-proclaimed cartoon enthusiast Mehma Kaur said, “I hope they keep him the same. He was my favorite and I don’t want to see him change too much,” others like Amanda Davis are looking forward to it. “I would definitely watch the movie because I would love to see what the new revamped version of Mickey looks like. It makes sense that they would want to make changes to him to make him more relevant to today’s kids.”
